Aetna Family Health Insurance Changes (online medication) Due to the Health Reform Acts

The health care reform is slowly introducing many changes to the Aetna family health insurance policies. President Obama signed the health reform legislation and it became law back in March. The acts consist of two pieces, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and the Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010. Both of these acts result in a lot of changes for health insurance carriers, including Aetna family health insurance plans. Most of the changes affect individual policies, not group health plans, so they will result in the most changes on Aetna family health insurance policies, and Aetna individual health insurance plans. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will be regulating the changes and the insurance industry.
The first change involves the insurance carriers reporting Medical Loss Ratio numbers to the HHS. This particular requirement does not affect members of Aetna family health insurance plans, but does contribute to the transparency of the industry to members. Another change that was effectively upon enactment is that insurance carriers will have to justify increases in plan premiums. This means that if Aetna wants to increase your Aetna family health insurance plans premiums, they must print a disclosure of the increase on their public web site and justify the increase to the public. Again, the purpose of these mandates is to provide accountability and transparency to the health insurance industry, and this provides peace of mind to members enrolled in Aetna family health insurance plans.
The next change that already took place is that the HHS has established high risk insurance pool programs in every state. A high risk insurance pool works when Aetna family health insurance plans are not an option. Either the state or the federal government could regulate and oversee these high risk pool programs. In Georgia, the state insurance commissioner chose to allow the federal government to set up the program. A high risk insurance pool is set up for those individuals who repeatedly get denied for coverage through Aetna individual health insurance plans, or Aetna family health insurance plans, or any other companys individual or family health insurance plans due to pre-existing medical conditions or high health risks. If you have been without health insurance for over six months, because of a medical condition, you might want to consider a high risk health pool.
In July, the HHS was required to set up an Internet web site so that all American citizens could research and shop around affordable health insurance options, including Aetna family health insurance policies. The web portal is to be set up so that search results do not come up in the same order every time, which would end up giving companies with names earlier in the alphabet, like Aetna family health insurance plans, an advantage. Therefore, the results will be in random order each time, and Aetna family health insurance plans could show up on the first page or the last page. This makes it fair for all the other companies.
Another change that is required to be in effect in September of 2010, but that many companies, including Aetna family health insurance, have already started is allowing dependent children to continue receiving coverage and benefits until the age of 26. This is a great enhancement to Aetna family health insurance plans.
